Amy and Magee

CPL favicon

Amy returned to CPL after having shared a wonderful partnership with her first CPL service dog, Kia. She experienced a lot of anxiety after making the decision to come back for a successor dog. Amy has spinal muscular atrophy, and there were many logistics to work out; traveling from Georgia with two different personal care attendants and transporting all of the medical equipment for a three-week stay in a hotel room. There was also fundraising to be done to help pay for the trip.

It all paid off – Amy arrived and she and Magee fell in love immediately. Magee also learned quickly that her new mom was an experienced dog trainer, and that testing her resolve to succeed was futile. Amy helped to teach her classmates to patiently work through a skill until it is mastered, and they in turn have called her their inspiration.

We are all looking forward to watching this pair continue to grow into the wonderful service team that Amy and Kia once were. Thanks to both Amy and Magee for their bravery and perseverance in the face of unthinkable challenges.
