Giving the Gift of Independence
When you make a gift to CPL, you are making it possible for individuals with disabilities to receive service and companion dogs that will transform their lives.
The total cost to raise, train, place and provide lifetime support for each CPL dog is over $30,000. Recipients are asked to make a nominal donation, however, no one is denied a dog due to their inability to contribute.
Your support is giving individuals with disabilities hope, increased confidence and greater independence. Thank you for your generosity!

Independence Society—A tradition of giving
Independence Society members belong to a distinctive family of generous and compassionate friends of Canine Partners for Life. Members make an annual leadership financial donation of $1,000 or more to support CPL’s general operations during our fiscal year (July 1 — June 30). Many choose to contribute their support via automated online monthly giving.
Members receive special invitations to exclusive member events throughout the year and are also invited to provide ongoing feedback and guidance pertaining to the future of CPL.

Stock Gifts
One of the easiest ways to contribute to CPL is with a gift of stock. It is simple and generally offers a number of valuable financial benefits, including the total value of the stock upon transfer is tax-deductible and there is typically no obligation to pay capital gains taxes. CPL recommends you consult with your tax advisor regarding your specific tax situation.
Procedures for Stock Gifts:
- Before facilitating the transfer, please notify us of the name of stock, number of shares, if you prefer to designate the gift to a specific purpose (such as Capital Campaign), and the time frame you expect to complete the transfer.
- Your broker may need our brokerage information in order to facilitate the transfer:
- O’Brien Greene & Co. (Custodian is Fidelity)
- Account number 479–765309
- DTC #0226
It is important that you authorize the broker to disclose to CPL your name and the details pertaining to the stock transfer. This will allow us to identify the gift when it arrives.
Solla’s Partners (Planned Giving)

Solla’s Partners (named for Solla, the very first CPL service dog) was established to recognize and thank those who have included Canine Partners for Life in their estate plans either through a will, trust, retirement or life insurance plans, bank accounts, or life income gift such as a charitable gift annuity. Through your thoughtfulness, you make a timeless commitment to continue the work of CPL to increase the quality of life of individuals we serve, by providing and sustaining professionally trained service and companion dogs for years to come.
Contact your legal or financial advisor to discuss your options. Then contact CPL to let us know of your gift. We acknowledge and respect if you wish to remain anonymous but we encourage you to notify us of your plans on a confidential basis, as it allows us to plan for the future.

The Partnership for Independence Campaign

With phase one complete, building the Marian S. Ware Program Services Center, CPL is actively moving forward with phase two of the campaign which will construct the new Mollie and Minor Barringer Training Center. This building will include a mock apartment to train and practice service skills to assist with daily living activities, an industrial sized kitchen to support special activities and events, additional handicapped restrooms (one with an adult changing station), and a huge new training room, the Gerret and Tatiana Copeland Education Hall, with plenty of natural light that will provide efficient space for group training sessions.
Contact Kirstin Downie, Director of Development and Communications, (610) 869‑4902 x214 or kdownie@k94life.org to discuss how you can make an impactful gift to the campaign.

Workplace Giving
Many corporations have workplace giving programs to help develop philanthropy by their employees. We salute those companies and the generosity of their employees.
If you work for a large corporation, check with your human resources department to find out about its matching-gift policy. CPL is also a member charity of America’s Charities. Thanks to this alliance, CPL participates in workplace giving campaigns with state employees, the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC #10357), and in the private sector. CPL supporters that work in the private sector can donate through their donor-designated contributions in workplace giving drives such as the United Way. Please list Canine Partners for Life, P.O. Box 170, Cochranville, PA 19330, as your charity of choice on your United Way pledge forms.
