Delaware resident, Gary graduated with his Mobility Support dog Sawyer in the Summer of 2019. Gary says they began to bond when he met Sawyer before team training, however he could visually see how connected they had become when looking at a photo of the two of them. The photo captured a moment when the pair was looking into each other’s eyes while conquering the treehouse stairs at Longwood Gardens. Since then, Sawyer is always by Gary’s side. In addition to mobility assistance, Sawyer also helps Gary by retrieving items for him, opening doors, and “bracing” to help him stand. Gary says that he and Sawyer are very in tune with each other, and Sawyer even seems to anticipate his needs!
