Jeffrey and Scoutie*

CPL favicon

Jeffrey applied to CPL for a successor dog after his first home companion dog Mitzi passed away.  Jeffrey and Mitzi shared 9 wonderful years together but without a dog in the house, Jeffrey said it felt empty.  He needed another dog to “answer” the door when he came home from work.  He also missed taking walks around the neighborhood – an activity that is important for Jeffrey’s physical and social well-being.  Jeffrey described his successor dog as one that would be playful and energetic but one that could also settle for an afternoon nap.  He also wanted a dog that liked to ride in the car, so he could take the dog on trips to visit with family.  Scoutie, a cute little yellow lab, was selected for Jeffrey since she possesses all of the traits that Jeffrey described and she has a lovable nature that just can’t be denied. Since being matched, there’s not a day that goes by that Scoutie doesn’t make Jeffrey laugh. The day often begins with Scoutie gently nuzzling Jeffrey to wake up.  If he doesn’t respond, Scoutie will then circle around and nudge her nose into Jeffrey’s chest.  Scoutie has discovered that this technique usually works and now Jeffrey wakes up laughing.  When Jeffrey comes home from work it’s not long before he is laughing again when they go outside to play ball together.  There is some quiet time in the evening though when Jeffrey gently pets Scoutie. Jeffrey says that Scoutie is the best thing that has happened to him in a long time and that she has filled a void in his life.
