Mackenzie and Chaos

Chaoscame into Mackenzie’s life at a pivotal moment during her final months in graduate school. Chaos, a medical alert dog, and Mackenzie completed CPL’s spring team training, then just two months later Chaos walked with Mackenzie as she graduated with a Master of Education for Speech-Language Pathology. Known for pushing herself too hard, Mackenzie often had to modify or cancel plans due to her symptoms. Chaos’ alerts helped her conserve energy and avoid overexertion. His forward pull and knack for retrieving items allowed her to do more after work and on her off days.

Every day with Chaos is different and full of possibilities. Their bond grows stronger as they navigate life together! One of Mackenzie’s favorite memories was a trip to Richmond, VA. They visited a wildlife center, walking over four miles. Chaos stayed focused despite numerous distractions. At a beautiful waterfall, Mackenzie’s friend suggested walking down the stairs. Normally, she’d hesitate, but with Chaos by her side, she confidently said, “I can do that now because he’ll pull me back up!” His energy and enthusiasm give Mackenzie the confidence to say yes more often, and to embrace new opportunities. Along with Chaos, Mackenzie is ready to face whatever comes next, knowing they are a team, ready to take on the world one step at a time.
