Program Director

Lead a team of staff who provide Service Dog selection, training and graduate and volunteer support

Are you an experienced positive reinforcement dog trainer? Do you also have leadership experience? Do you want to use your skills & abilities to make a difference in the lives of others? Canine Partners for Life (CPL) has an immediate need for a Program Director to assist us in selecting, training and placing service and companion dogs with people who have disabilities. The position of Program Director is an integral part of the CPL leadership team and is responsible for the management of our training & selection staff. This position also supervises the support system for our graduates in addition to volunteer selection, training and appreciation. Another critical role of this position is communication with our Board of Directors and executive staff.

We are searching for a seasoned positive dog training professional who also has successfully demonstrated leadership and management skills in a professional capacity and ideally has had experience working with people with disabilities. A college degree is required for this position. Canine Partners for Life provides and sustains professionally trained service and companion dogs. We train our dogs to meet the specific needs of individuals and the environments in which they are living. We seek to establish a lifetime bond between dog and graduate and we commit ourselves to a comprehensive program of follow-up training and support services to ensure each team’s success in achieving their goals. Program Assistant

Canine Partners for Life (CPL) is seeking an individual to fill a part-time (24–32 hrs/wk) Program Assistant position.

The Program Assistant is responsible for managing all aspects of the community puppy raising program and the released dog program under the direct supervision of the Program Manager. The Program Assistant also trains volunteers in basic dog handling techniques to support CPL’s volunteer program. The Program Assistant supports the program department administratively and assists with other responsibilities as needed.

The hours for this position will vary and may fall any day of the week, including weekends. Evening hours and weekend work will be scheduled by the supervisor as determined by the organization’s needs. Attendance and assistance at selected special events will be required.

Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma is required. A college degree is preferred. Dog training experience and experience with instructing others to train dogs is required. Experience working with the training and care of animals in a variety of disciplines is preferred. Experience working with the disabled population is preferred. Current driver’s license required. The ability to drive CPL vehicles is required. The ability to meet clearance requirements to enter a variety of local, state and correctional facilities is required.
